Zidane’s surprise Play Isco
Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane gave a big surprise in the composition of the players against PSG. Zidane plays Isco. This decision was missed by many observers. Zidane was pleased with Isco’s contribution.
“I will not say when I decided to start Isco, but Isco was part of the army and he did it phenomenally,” Zidane was quoted as saying by Marca.
“We intend to put players between the lines, and I think we interrupted [PSG] in the first round. Isco did very well with Karim [Benzema] and with [Eden] Hazard. We have planned this,” he explained.
Zidane plays Isco in the playmaker position, behind the duo of Benzema and Hazard. Isco played until the 82nd minute, before being replaced by Rodrygo Goes.
Positive Signal for Isco
Zidane also gave a positive signal for Isco’s future. The former Malaga player was doubtful he was still included in Zidane’s projections this season. However, Isco gave proof that it still deserves to be in the first team.
This season, the minutes of play that Isco gets are very minimal. He has only played seven times in La Liga, from 13 matches played by Real Madrid. Isco hasn’t played in 90 minutes in La Liga.
On the Champions League stage, out of five matches played by Real Madrid, Isco has only played twice. He also has never played fully in the Champions League.
So far, the composition of players in Real Madrid’s midfield is very solid. In addition to the trio of Luka Modric, Casemiro and Toni Kroos, Zidane also has another name that looks good, Fede Valverde.
